I just finished two books!
Woot been a long long time since i read=/
The last was like..LOTR lol which is in sec 2
After reading 'Polaris' by Jack McDevitt,
I feel its quite a nice read!Finished it in 2 days which says alot
Cus i often just read like 10 pages on the 1st day before i zoned out
For a start, it is pretty interesting..keeps mi hooked to find out what's next
The other book (by another writer)start out too slow and throws way too much characters at me from the get-go
However Polaris "kills" off an entire cast of characters in the 1st chapter
And den the story shifts to 2 protagonists for the rest of the book so it doesnt get too confusing
But in the book was placed in a clever manner ethical issues facing us today
One of the few themes are immortality
If before you lies the pill dat gives u indefinite life
Wud you take it?
Would you destroy it?
Would you take it and tell the whole world abt it so dat they can enjoy it?
The book gave no clear answer.
All of the choices above has it's fallacies.
Take it and never die ere the world comes to an end. But can u bear to see people around you dying of old age while you know that you could have saved them?
With a long life comes a take-for-granted attitude
You think that life never ends for you until the hour of doom rings
How often have we seen people not giving a care for the matters of the world til a terminal illness hits them?
Then it is only when death is inevitable that they feel that they have a great amount of things unfulfilled, that time was accelerating against them..Too late
So we shud take life happily with each day.
An email i received from minghui emphasizes the point
We each have in our own power a decision on how the day will be like for us
WE have a chance to decide to smile or to frown
What if we to share this knowledge to the world?
Nobody will die.
But it comes with implications.
The population will keep growing and growing until it outstrips resources
Then what would you do?
Selective killing of whoever serves no purpose?
That is a barbaric act.
But what is barbaric?
Sometimes these terms are not well defined
If you would not selected for purging, then you would have agreed it was needed act
But if you wud otherwise, you wud had said it was barbaric
There will be forever be no common solution
There will always be a blur line between these issues
There is no true answer.
And now i star upon my third book
"Blood Diamonds"
Hope it will give me a revelation..
I always love books that totally play around with your beliefs
Bennie out=)
now you notice i talk a lot!
